Cancellations of massive and epic proportions at all the networks saw a large amount of shows get the axe.
With shows like Law & Order SVU running for 19 seasons and counting, that’s the exception to the rule. Most shows don’t come nearly as close to that multi-decade run as that. In fact, it’s predecessor Law & Order ran 20 years with it’s final incarnation ending in 2011. The new NBC show Chicago Justice is it’s ‘reincarnated daddy’. Some shows that were renewed left us scratching our collective heads like Riverdale, The Exorcist and others that were hardly a blip on the radar.
The networks took an axe and hacked away at many shows, some in their second year, some longer running, many over extending their welcome like 2 Broke Girls and some pre-announcing it would be their last year. Others like all the Bellisario projects including NCIS keep on keepin’ on.
Cancelled shows or those on their last season included Time After Time, Timeless (but then the network decided to renew it), Notorious, Conviction, Secrets And Lies, Dr. Ken, American Crime, Last Man Standing, The Real O’Neals, Imaginary Mary, The Catch, Sleep Hollow, Bones, Son Of Zorn, APB, Making History, Rosewood, Pitch, Vampire Diaries, Reign, Frequence, No Tomorrow, Grimm, Emerald City, Powerless, The Blacklist: Redemption. There’s still shows on the bubble for cancellation so we’ll keep you posted.
